The Bay

Do you remember:

The heat,

And the bugs.

The lazy bay,

Mud in the forest

Filled with filthy water.

There’s our beautiful boat

Lying at ready

Looking peaceful and happy.

Oh, those days!

Those happy days!

so filled with adventure

Whether swimming in the bay

or exploring the forest.

We explored the forest

When we moved,

Years ago they were

So long ago.

They were the best years

of my entire life,

Good years were always enjoyed

They were days of freedom,

 pain free, love and laughter.

How I miss them

Relaxing at nights

Out on the bay,

No wind, no sails,

a simple concert of noises

of the night and the breezes

Watching the deer

 cross the property line.

Those were years to enjoy,

Indeed they were.

Those cool nights

On the bay

Listening to the wind and waves

As we passed good food

and good memories that we had.

All those years with friends

And foes alike,

Laughing and crying alike.

The memories are like the tide.

They come in without warning.

Damn, those days are so far past,

Yet I still smile,

As they pass along in my mind

like all the sails I enjoyed.
